What is Huntingdon Life Sciences?

Huntington Life Sciences are animal testing laboratories in the UK, Baltimore Maryland, and NEW JERSEY which are responsible for the deaths of 500 animals every day. Large, well-known companies depend on HLS to test their products and make sure they are suitable for the market, to end up in your hands. Some of these companies include: 3M, ATodd, you asked for it.merican Pacific Corporation, Bristol Meyers Squibb, CVC Speciality Chemicals (based in NEW JERSEY! "this company's products like resins will have been involved in very nasty experiments at HLS"), DuPont, Exxon, Merck, ....these are just ones that you might recognize- the list is 4 pages long!

HLS will test anything for anybody. They carry out experiments which involve poisoning animals with household products, pesticides, drugs, herbicides, food colourings and additives, sweeteners and genetically modified organisms. HLS have been infiltrated and exposed 6 times in recent years. Each time horrific evidence of animal abuse and staff incompetence has been uncovered, including workers punching 4 month old beagle puppies in the face (if you have ever had or loved a pet in your entire life, think of someone punching it in the face!), dissecting fully conscious monkeys, and falsifying research data.

If you support animal testing for products destined for human consumption, then think about this:

Splenda, the artifical sweetener (Johnson & Johnson) was also tested at HLS. Out of all 12,800 dogs, cats, rats and monkeys tested, NOT ONE SURVIVED. Despite this, Splenda is now on the market for your consumption. What was the use of the testing there exactly? Can someone please tell me?

How can you help?

There are several ways to help!!!

If you are in Europe, you can come join me at the animal rights march in Amsterdam on the 9th of August. www.ar2007.info

Or keep up to date on the protests in the Netherlands and Belgium here: www.stopdierproeven.org

Make a Call, or 2, or 3 S

ome companies have actually stopped dealing with HLS due to concerned citizens calling to ask why they support animal testing. Some of the companies that have promised not to work with HLS anymore are listed here: http://www.shac.net/FINANCIAL/dumpedhls.html

This is a good start, so make a call to the companies still working with HLS and *politely* urge them to cut all ties with HLS! It sounds like a stretch, but it can work!

Support the Activists in Prison

A letter, a book, a card to show your support! Anything! Here is a list of prisoners and what they were sentenced for. If you don't supprt the way that they protested then don't write to them, but write to someone else! http://www.shac.net/ACTION/prisoners.html

Donate Money to the Cause

Who are the Lake Forest 8?

Eight animal rights activists were arrested in the suburbs of Chicago for their involvement in anti-HLS protest activity. The activists received four charges each for holding standard, constitutionally protected demonstrations against supporters of HLS (there goes your Freedom of Speech!). Monetary support is needed for their legal defense and to cover travel expenses for 4 out of state activists. Donate to the Lake Forest 8 legal defense via PayPal: LakeForest8@hushmail.com

Other ways to help

Order leaflets from the site and hand them out, tell your friends, fundraise for the cause, subscribe to the SHAC newletter to keep up to date!

I invited someone recently to the march in Amsterdam, and she told me she couldn't go because she is a scientist at a university that tests on animals, and she supports animal testing.

I punched her in the neck.*

Ta-ta!

*OK I didn't, but I wanted to!
